I can almost guarantee she has her dream ring posted. Another idea is designing a “placeholder” ring – with the option of returning it and allowing her to design her own if she’s not completely in love (but if you designed it, she’s gonna cherish it – no matter what shape or color)
RING INSURANCE
Insuring the ring is a life saver. Your hands will be sweaty – If you happen to drop it through the cracks of a fishing dock mid-proposal, the world will not end! The sentiment behind the ring is what matters most, but if anything happens to the ring itself, it can be replaced. I know you don’t want to have to think about/worry about anything other than your bride-to-be accepting the proposal, but it’s a good idea! Discuss a plan with your jeweler ahead of time.

Please, whatever you do – choose a sentimental setting for your proposal! It doesn’t have to be the most expensive restaurant in the city or on a tropical island (ya’ll saw Jim’s perfect proposal to Pam at a fricken gas station, right!?) Make it somewhere unique to your love story and decide if she’d want a public or private proposal. It can be as simple as the place you met – like your college campus, somewhere you’ve spent a lot of time – a local cafe, or a scenic destination that will blow her away.
A FAMILY AFFAIR
If it’s possible, make sure you’ve asked her dad for permission. This is a traditional practice that goes hand in hand with asking for her hand! I can promise you that if your significant other is close to her dad, she wants you to ask him first. Determine whether or not your girl would appreciate her family being with her at the moment – If it would mean more to you both to share the moment privately, be sure to call your families immediately after.
PLANT A PHOTOGRAPHER
It only sounds a little creepy. By planting a secret photographer or videographer, you’re setting yourself up to capture the most significant moment of your lives! Tears will fall for years to come as she looks back on the most romantic moment frozen in time. Her hand covering her dropped jaw, your hopeful down-on-one-knee smile: these are the details you’ll want to hold onto.
NAILED IT
Enlist her mom, sister or bestie to take her to get her nails done, but make sure the surprise isn’t ruined – have them tell her they won free manicures to a local spa. This is important, only because a whirlwind of ring selfies are sure to follow her exclaiming “YES!”
AN INDIVIDUAL IDEA
Your girlfriend will totally appreciate any unique elements implemented into the proposal. Play “your” song in the background, fill the setting with her favorite flowers, include your dog – do whatever you can to make it uniquely her moment.
